2015 Raymond Reserve Selection Cab Sauv Review
Does it shock you I was drawn to this wine for the red velvet on the front? It shouldn’t because that’s pretty awesome. I’ve not had any Raymond wines and Wine Spectator was pretty high on them so I figured why not. This scored a 92 and for $36 it’s worth a big ol’ try.
If I were you I would start off the drinking process for this particular wine by rubbing the front of it viciously. This activity will coax the wine into being the bestest wine it can be. Tickle the bottle slightly underneath - BUT BE SURE TO ASK FIRST OKAY!
This wine was ready to drink as soon as the cork came out. I actually just stared at the bottle and the cork was frightened out - it’s a beautiful trick I perform sometimes. Anyway, pour this bad boy right into a glass and get to drinking. On the nose I get wood (the tree variety) and grass but in a subtle way. WISH I WAS BETTER WIF WURDS!
This wine is also a deeeeep purple color which made me anticipate heavy fruit notes and a jammy texture but NO, FRIENDS! This wine was bold but light on the fruit flavors and as I like it - dry. I get tart berries like da black ones, the rasp ones, etc. There’s a long finish that has you enjoying the wine over a long period of time because you don’t have to keep going back to remember the taste. I really enjoy wines like this because you want to keep drinking constantly but you don’t have to. Does that make sense? I don’t care - get better at interpreting my brain.
Be sure to pick this wine up and enjoy on a cool evening while you talk mad trash about your friends and co-workers. You’ll thank me.
