2017 Daou Cabernet Sauvignon Review
I was anticipating nice things from this wine because I was really impressed with the 2016 regular Cab as well as the 2015 Reserve. Well like most things in life when you have high expectations you're let down quicker Rebel Wilson's dietician.
I'm sure you don't care all that much about the vintner so let's get right on in. On the nose there was some unripe cherries and oak going on. In da mouf I got pomegranate so when you combine that with the cherry situation it led to an almost sour flavor and finish (not completely bitter) that was a bit odd. If I had to compare the taste to a celebrity I'd say it's a 40 year old Tara Reid.
I could tell right away this wasn't up to where I thought the 2016 was but that's the fun thing about wine. Each year, as a very good friend, Kris Hart says, is a little moment in time and a nice history treat. Unfortunately though, sometimes the treat is a Hot Tamale that's been soaked in ass water. And you just have to prepare for that.
