2013 Tenuta Cucco Barolo Review
Barolo is one of the most powerful words in the world of wine and you should shutter when hearing it. I laughed the other day because someone told me they started their wine adventure on Barolo and came to the conclusion they didn't like wine. That would be like forming your opinion on shooting guns by firing a cannon.
I picked this bad boy up at Central Market in Houston a while back and at the price of $55 you cannot beat that - not for this quality of a wine in a great year. A lot of Barolo and Barbaresco wines are just so overpriced in the states it makes you want to just steal them instead.
Before I go into the notes just know I opened this wine too soon. I should have waited a few more years to really rate this wine and I plan on doing that with the second bottle. Now here we go! In da nose I got caramel, chocolate and white cherries. Absolutely stunning and should be poured on to me. In da mouf I got ripe strawberry, anise and soil because that's what you should get. The finish was a tad bitter but again I opened it too soon and I cannot wait to see what happens to this in a few years.
Do not pass the opportunity to pick this bottle up and bunker it away. This will be a real sexy treat for you and your lover(s) down the road. Give high quality Barolos 9-10 years to become their true selves and they will reward you like an adopted 7' 6" tall child from Africa.
