2014 Norton Privada Red Blend Review
The Mendoza area of Argentina is the country’s biggest, and most important, wine producing area that is best known for their Malbecs. I also recommend this region to those that are just getting into wine because I find many of their offerings extremely easy to drink and pair with a wide variety of dishes.
This wine is a blend which is where Jeff in the back just gets a big ol’ blender and dumps a bunch of the vineyard’s juice together and mixes it up nice and stuff. As stated above this is a blend of Malbec, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. These are easy grapes to work with which often result in an easy, not complex products.
I picked this mofo up because the ol’ Wine Spectator gave it a 91 which is right in the perfect price point - rating range for my tastes. I have yet to be disappointed with a Mendoza wine ranked above 90 so if you want to give this area a go try this one!
This wine does not need to aerate and can be enjoyed straight from the glass, or bottle if you like to party hard. As shown in the picture you can enjoy with some Fritos OR anything not overly spicy. It has nice notes of blueberry and blackberry but lacks in a memorable finish. This is a completely reliable wine that would make a great gift or at $20-25 a nice drinker after a hard day at work pretending you did things.
