2015 WillaKenzie Estate "Emery" Pinot Noir Review
California Pinot Noirs suck. Good thing this isn’t one because it would suck. This Australian sounding wine is out of Oregon with a name that sounds like a rich, black woman from Atlanta. Diversity, baby.
Our recently engaged (lmao dumb) friends brought this bottle over for us to explore WHICH IS FUN BECAUSE I NEVER HAD IT! This is from one of my favorite Pinot Noir regions - Willamette Valley where God said, "Aye, bruh/chick I need y'all to take that fruit there and stick it in the ground RIGHT HERE. Then pick it and shove it in various things and let it sit. After that put it in things and let people drink from thine things. The will of me."
In da nose I got a nice mix of oak and lavender. Pinots always seem to have contrasting noses that make me smile. In da mouf I got some soft blueberry finished off with a splash of minerals. The finish was a little bitter for me which reminded me slightly of those fucking Californian imposters. The mouthfeel was light and typical.
I think this is a bit overpriced for what it is. There are various other Pinots available well below this $55 tag. I still enjoyed it but at the end of the day DOLLA MAKE HOLLA!
