Review:

I’m almost through the sample onslaught from Bad Wine Reviews loyalist, Chris who took the time to package this up for me when he wasn't lobbying for increased taxes to help fund welfare programs. What a guy!

I haven't reviewed scotch in a while so this is one hell of a bottle to kick it back off. Scotch lords, unlike those prissy little bourbon queens, allow distillers to experiment wholly with finishes or full cask maturation such as this Sauternes finished bitch right here. The cool thing is this spent the entire 10 years in ex-Sauternes casks rather than a portion of the aging cycle. This also comes in at a very nice 122.2 proof which is a perfect place for me and my whiskey to lay.

In da nose I got sweet cream and banana smothered in natural vanilla you get at them grocery stores. In da mouf I got walnut and cigar smoke / humidor action with a finish of warm brandy.

This was an excellent scotch with one of the best noses I've experienced but I would have REALLY loved to have seen what it would have been with a couple extra years on it. The palate seemed to resemble more of a non-finished scotch rather than take on some of the anticipated sweet/fruit notes of a Sauternes cask. All that complainin' being said I really liked it and it would be a stellar drink for anyone in the scotch world looking for something high proof and rich.
