Review:

Here is one of the Van Winkle releases - the 12 Year Lot B. I have only tried this particular offering one time when I had been drinking quite a bit of [insert any booze] and I don't exactly remember it. Funny enough I've had a bottle of this sitting because I'm a certifiable alcohol hoarder and a sample came available so let's get it.

This bottle is part of the annual winter release of Buffalo Trace's highly allocated Old Rip Van Winkle / Van Winkle / Pappy Van WInkle series. It is the second youngest with the Old Rip Van Winkle 10 being the child. You can read about that particular one here. This bottle retails for $70 but fetches much higher on the secondary market ($450) because there are crazier people than me out there.

In da nostrils I got fruitier-than-anticipated notes like raspberry, a basket of dried fruits and some kettle corn. I'm sure I'm wrong about that but this is my site so suck ittttt! In da mouf it's forward with some walnut that finishes into a chocolatey-peanut conconction. I know nothing like that exists but if it did I would guess it would be called a Reese's Cup.

I was a little disappointed in the mouthfeel as it was quite thin but the overall flavor was enjoyable. Compared next to the Old Rip 10 this one pales in comparison so if you're going to drop the money stick with Mr. Rip.
