2017 Mimi en Provence Rose Review
I appreciate that rose has been getting a lot more attention in the United States as of late because it truly is a very under appreciated / valued sector of wine. Sometimes you're not in the mood for a red but you don't want to commit to a white - I feel ya. ROSE IS THERE FOR YOU, BRUH LET IT INTO YOUR LIIIIIIFE!
As I'm sure you've seen in your local grocery store / licka stow there is a plethora of rose wine available. Now you could be like me and just work your way down the shelves hoping to stumble upon one you really like because you have a minor drinking problem but just rely on Bad Wine Reviews to steer you in the right direction.
This wine has a silly ass name. I'm not sure why so many vintners feel the need to name their rose something absurd but apparently Mimi is a term of endearment. My vote would be "ivre" because that is drunk but I don't have a marketing degree. Anyway, this wine seems to have an odd strawberry scent to it that follows it on the taste. To me the strawberry flavor seems artificial and I'm sure it's not but to put it eloquently it's a bit weird. After the strawberry notes GTFO a watermelon moves in and invites you for a bbq. This is a first for me getting watermelon in a note but it was there I SWEAR!
The flavor dissipates quickly which is a tad disappointing - it honestly just drops off like any T-Mobile customer. Overall I think you'll enjoy this wine if it's the first rose you have but you'll be less than whelmed if you've had some variety (see some of my other reviews). There are better wines out there for this price BUT that does not make this a bad wine - it's an ok wine.
