2010 Roberto Sarotto Barbaresco "Gaia Principe" Review
We’ve been sitting on this wine since the great credit demolition of 2015 because most of my Barbaresco and Barolo wines just haven't been ready to drink...UNTIL NOW! Now is the time of reckoning.
I don't know much about this vintner except it sounds like a cross between Italian and Japanese so I can only assume an Italian man woo'd a Japanese Geisha and this winemaker was born. Maybe he should have stayed to learn about ramen - read on to learn why.
In da nose I got black pepper, blackberry and oak which started off very nice - a bit fruitier than some Barbarescos but I was eager to be pleased. Then I tasted it. In da mouf I got long forgotten wood that had been soaked, some old pomegranate and strawberry jam with a bit too much sugar in it.
This wine was kind of a hot mess and I didn't really care for it. The nose was nice but the taste just crashed hard from start to end.
