Old Forester "Hokus Pokus" Bourbon Review
Correction to this review
There are few things as rewarding as hotel booze - a list of the things that are include: Pop Secret Extra Butter Popcorn, not dying in Dominican Republic, getting a shoulder rub from a creepy boss and really good crab bisque.
I picked this bottle up at Hokus Pokus Liquors - Prairieville which is an absolutely fantastic store. Their wine selection is pretty badass (less badass since I cleaned out some of their good shit last month) and they are hoping to soon get seriously into the pick game. This particular bottle was chosen by the Alexandria store.
In da nose I got that classic Old Forester banana along with some apple and hot chocolate. If you don't like bananas in your nose then this isn't for you. In da mouf I got some pretty front-forward corn notes followed by soft lavendar and I swear to GAWD some Chips Ahoy! on the finish. This beverage is slightly bitter and the finish cooks off pretty quick. Compared to some other Old Forester picks it is lacking some balancing earth notes.
I have had nothing but great experiences so far with Hokus Pokus and I am very much looking forward to trying more of their bottles. If you get a chance please stop in the Lake Charles store to see Matt or the Prairieville store to see Alex as those are the ones that I've heard the most about. Don't tell them I sent you because you will most certainly get punched in the face.
