2012 Four Roses Single Barrel Limited Edition Bourbon Review
One of the most dangerous things for my life and wallet is to be at a whiskey bar that has rare and high end booze. I start throwing darts and exclaim, "MOM I HAVEN'T HAD THAT ONE! CAN I TRY THAT ONE?! OMG I NEEEEEEED THATTTTT!" It's actually quite embarrassing because my mom isn't even there. Anyway I got to try this lil' beast at Haymarket Whiskey Bar in Louisville.
I've had the luxury of trying some of these other brands' higher end / rare stuff but Four Roses eludes me like a tax break. This bottle was limited to 5178 bottles and is the OESK recipe coming in at a nice 55% ABV after 12 tense years in a barrel. I asked Four Roses what their thoughts were on it and they responded with, "Please stop contacting us." Powerful shit, yo.
In da nose I got vanilla and honeycomb cereal - the 1990s version with the crackhead ass mascot trying to sell kids half eaten, broken box cereal. I da mouf I got a very warm caramel and brown sugar combo that resulted in a long finish sprinkled with almonds. Four Roses really doesn't do anything poorly.
Overall this is worth the 2012 release price and I have no idea what it's going for now. I'm sure I cannot afford it. If you get the opportunity to try this please do and call me so that I can hear you slurping it.
