Review:

As you know or don't know I am a huge fan of Mollydooker. I am collecting their Velvet Glove line and can't wait to start getting into those very soon. For now, we'll review one of their mid-range wines - Carnival of Love.

Carnival of Love is the bigger brother of Enchanted Path but little brother of Velvet Glove. At a nice 16.5% this bottle will certainly give you the confidence to make a bad purchase or send that "shouldn't send" text.

The nice thing about Mollydooker wines is they are screw cap so they do not need to be stored laying down. I also don't feel the need to decant this wine but the pictures look snobbier when I do. In the nose you can tell this is a strong wine. You get a pleasant chocolate-liqeur smell (not kidding this time) and what I assume toffee smells like.

Not a lot of tannins on this one and you immediately get blackberries, butter and plum on the taste. The finish lacks slightly for me but it's almost inevitably the terrifying heartburn that awaits. Not sure why but Mollydooker wines have me regretting them come 2 am.

I would pair this wine with any red meat and veggies you have made unhealthy (e.g. sauteed in butter).

Overall good wine but I think you can buy the Enchanted Path for $10-20 lower and achieve the same thing in my humble opinion. I will let you know soon about the Velvet Glove.
