2015 Sojourn Rodgers Creek Vineyard Pinot Noir Review
I'm not sure what it is. Maybe it's me. But I doubt that because I have the perfect palate. California Pinot Noirs are sub-par and I have yet to have one that changes my mind. I do believe this is a very difficult grape to work with in general but SOMEHOW FRANCE, WASHINGTON AND OREGON CAN FIGURE IT OUT...
Now when I say sub-par I'm not saying it's vomit-inducing. It's just a low-performing-for-the-price wine like every other California Pinot before it. It's thin, the earth notes are sour and it insists upon itself. When I am president in 2024 I will ban Pinot Noir production in California because they can't seem to get it right. If you think you can change my mind - email me and get me a bottle. If you happen to change my mind I'll reimburse you for the wine and buy one for you too.
In da nostrils I get pomegranate and in da mouf it moves into a thin, sour-earth taste that disappears as quickly as I was disappointed. The wine tries to apologize to me because it's drinkable but I'm not in the mood for reconciliation.
If you're wanting to try new world Pinots then I recommend you stick to Washington and Oregon. Beaux Frères out of the Willamette Valley makes some badass wine and you won't be disappointed like me :(
