2010 Chateau La Dominique Bordeaux Review
My dad did what he do and he magically found this bottle in his basement of booze along with like 72 other awesome things - I can only hope to have a basement where I find delicious and/or amazing things one day. Normally all I find is another roll on my body which is wildly depressing.
This is the first Bordeaux I've written about on this site because my selection of Bordeaux where I live is shit and I have to go into Houston and it's like a whole thing. Bordeaux can be made up of the following grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Carménère. I have no idea what this one is made of but I can promise you there are indeed grapes in it. I also know nothing about this vintner and I'm not going to look because you don't care.
Bordeaux is an incredibly fun wine to drink. It can be all over the place but one of my favorite characteristics is it is the best at tasting like where it came from - the earth. The more expensive Bordeaux literally feel/taste like soil in the most delicious and perfect way. If that sounds gross to you then you're probably eating a cold taco from Taco Bell in your t-shirt you got at a Monster Truck rally. Anyway let's get into it - in da nostrils I got a little bit of licorice and spicy hot tobacco (like a cigar that's lit). In da mouf I got bold blackberry and blueberry jams that danced off into a finish of soil and the Holy Spirit.
If you can find this wine great but start broadening your horizons a bit with some Bordeaux. There are some wonderful white and red Bordeauxs just begging to be taken and ravaged.
