2015 Shafer "One Point Five" Cabernet Sauvignon Review
I picked this lil’ number up at Longhorn Liquor in Beaumont because we were trying to get to 12 bottles for some unknown reason. I feel like we could do that with inexpensive wine but who am I to say no to a wine crazed maniac wife? (I'm smart)
Shafer is one of the historic wine producers in Napa kicking out a ton of wine (to include a ton of great wine). I've had some beauts from these folks and I was really looking forward to this one. I'm gonna go ahead and say it - I opened it too early. Read on.
In da nose I got very deep pepper, oak and herbal notes that came off almost medicinal. In da mouf I got jam for days along with mixed berries in a Waterford bowl. How do I know Waterford? Trust me.
This thing was very thick and definitely too young to drink. I owe this wine another go, once it becomes of age, and when I do I will update this review with my report. If you drink now you're gonna have a bad time for the price.
