Bayou Teche Brewing

The second stop on our adventure to Baton Rouge was off the beaten path a bit in Arnaudville, Louisiana (a tad northeast of Lafayette) at Bayou Teche Brewing. We happened to be there on some sort of bike people day where there was a LOT of skin tight clothing, fingerless gloves and did I mention the skin tight stuff? Yeah. There was little left to the imagination.

Anyway, this place is in the middle of coon ass / corn dog country and it’s about as Austin, TX as you can get. This is definitely a hippie hangout complete with attached gourmet pizza shack, live music with guys playing instruments nobody knows and beer that has obscure names based on inside jokes. Insults aside, I really liked this place.

You walk into a large outside sitting area, which was fantastic because it was a beautiful day, and then let yourself in to a small beer ordering room. They had about 10-12 beers on tap I think and I sampled a couple IPAs to zero in on the one I wanted. I got the Cocodrie IPA which was good but not great - and that’s all you’re getting from me on a beer review. The buddies I was with ordered the Techeticles (HA! SEE FUNNY NAME) triple IPA and the Cinco de Bayou - Mexican lager. They said those were good so there you go - they good. The beers were standard prices $4-6 I think and there was no limit because #Louisiana.

If you go make sure you get the pizza - they are a bit small but very tasty. The owner is out there working his ass off - taking orders, cleaning up glasses, bringing out beers, etc. so be sure to give him a shout out for the awesome job. If you want somewhere to hang out before going batshit in a stadium or just want to try something a bit different head on over to Bayou Teche Brewing - you will not be disappointed.
