2018 Angel's Envy Cask Strength Whiskey Review
So I did an entire writeup on this and edited over it because I’m a dumbass. I'll try to write everything I did before but I can 100% guarantee you the effort won't be near as good. My buddy, and Bad Wine Reviews loyalist, Chris Francis hooked me up with a sample of this at his abode. It was my first time trying this pricey bitch so shoutout to Chris!
Angel's Envy prides itself on being "different" which is code for not following the rules because they finish their "bourbon" in Port barrels. I say that because there are two schools of thought here. First you have the sodomite purists who believe that because it is finished in said port barrels that it can no longer be classified as bourbon. Then you have the knuckle-dragging loud screamers saying it is simply straight bourbon finished in Port barrels. Unfortunately I happen to agree with the sodomites because technicalities rule the day.
As I took the pictures on a 1992 Super Nintendo let me break down the numbers on the label there. The 1240 signifies the bottle number and the 62 is the % alcohol. So this definitely not a entry-level drink - if you find it getting too hot water it down ya big bitch.
Aight so in da nose I get mint and chocolate liqueur - it is quite delightful like a Christmasey dessert. In da mouf I get that Jet-Puffed Marshmallow Creme stuff which is pretty tasty but then it jumps off the cliff into a standard oak / caramel thing that wasn't too wow. It's a very solid, nice whiskey but it's not $200 knock your socks off pour it on me and these hoes kinda drink.
Overall I think this is a damn fine whiskey but it is expensive as shit. There are plenty of dranks out there that are just as good and are 1/3 the price. If you do decide to snag you some try it neat and then water down as necessary.
